Student Marketing Co-ordinators
Student Marketing Co-ordinators play a major front line role in marketing BUNAC on all major campuses throughout the UK.
The ability to establish and maintain strong, positive professional relationships with the BUNAC London office, campus contacts
and interested students is essential.
Role Summary:
- Raise the profile of BUNAC and hence application rates at your university/college.
- Act as a point of contact for the co-ordination of promotional activities at your university.
- Identify and develop contacts with relevant parties within the university.
- Provide feedback and market information regarding your university.

Key Responsibilities:
- Attendance at and participation in the Student Marketing Co-ordinator Training Weekend in London on 25th & 26th October 2008 (travel expenses, accommodation and food will be provided).
- Attendance at and participation in all BUNAC presentations and events at your university.
- Assistance at local careers fairs within your region.
- Development of promotional opportunities on campus, including:
- Freshers’ / Careers / Vacation / Graduate Recruitment Fairs.
- Regular information stalls.
- Campus media (newspapers / magazines / radio / television).
- SU opportunities (permanent poster displays / society leaflets / plasma screens / cinema ads / etc).
- Hall of residence opportunities.
- Target emailing.
- Development of contacts and relationships with Careers Service, SU, academic departments, lecturers, etc on / off campus to assist in promotional activities.
- Use of negotiation skills to obtain best possible prices for promotional products and services.
- Provide the BUNAC London office with a regular flow of information on marketing and competitor activity in the form a weekly diary during term time.
- Offer ideas and feedback with regard to the development and improvement of BUNAC’s promotional activity on campus.
The Chartered Institute of Marketing Career Development Award
Student Marketing Co-ordinators will be given the opportunity to gain first hand practical marketing experience, which can be formally recognised through submitting a portfolio to be assessed for a Career Development Award from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
In order to qualify for the award, you will need to:
- Complete a minimum of two full terms as a Student Marketing Co-ordinator.
- Demonstrate an understanding of core marketing principles and a clear level of accomplishment in the five of the eight project areas listed below.
- Complete a Final Reflective Statement on your experiences and achievements.
A Career Development Award Project Submission template will need to be completed for a minimum of five of the eight topic areas listed below. This will make up the Personal Development Portfolio.
- Market Research activity
- Awareness Building
- Promotional Activity
- PR activity
- Building Relationships (channels to market, suppliers, key contacts)
- Event management activity
- Idea generation
- Identifying target audiences
Further information will be given, however you will need to submit a complete portfolio to BUNAC by 30th April 2009. This will then be submitted to the CIM for assessment.
In addition:
Places on BUNAC’s National Advisory Committee will be available to BUNAC Student Marketing Co-ordinators as will the possibility of nomination and election onto BUNAC’s governing General Council.
