JOBS UP FOR GRABS AT AUTUMN RECRUITMENT FAIRS

Canada offers some of the best snow sports in the world and many resorts will shortly begin hiring their winter staff during a major round of autumn recruitment fairs. For many gap year students or career-break travellers, spending a winter working in a world-class ski resort is a dream job and an ideal opportunity to enjoy a full season gaining or improving their ski or boarding skills, while becoming part of a lively international community and earning money to finance their trip. A work visa is essential: eligible UK passport holders can secure an exclusive 12-month Canadian Open Work Authorisation through BUNAC, the specialist in overseas work and volunteer programmes. The company’s Work Canada programme offers participants complete freedom to do any kind of work, anywhere in Canada.

Typically, the resorts are looking for employees with a strong customer service focus to fill positions in areas such as Food and Beverage, Retail and Rental, Guest Services, Finance and Operations. Many positions will be at entry level, with a wide range of perks including staff accommodation, free or discounted lift passes and discounted tuition. Ski resorts normally require overseas applicants to have a visa and a police background check in place prior to applying for work.

Application forms and full details of BUNAC’s Work Canada programme are available at www.bunac.org. Eligible candidates can apply straight away by returning their completed Work Canada Application Form with a registration fee of £160, or by making an online application. The registration fee covers regional information talks throughout the UK, support from BUNAC in the UK prior to departure and in Canada from BUNAC’s partner organisation, visa administration to secure the Open Work Authorisation and a comprehensive Canada Handbook including job listings. Applicants will typically be able to travel to Canada a minimum of seven weeks after they have submitted their initial programme application.

BUNAC is the market leader in overseas work and travel programmes. For further information on Work Canada or BUNAC’s work and travel programmes to the USA, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Ghana, Costa Rica, Peru and Cambodia, call (020) 7251 3472 or visit www.bunac.org.
