Whistler |
Whistler is a friendly ski village located in the heart of the Coastal Mountains of British Columbia, approximately 120 km north of Vancouver. Whistler is home to almost 10,000 people and offers some unforgettable skiing, snowboarding and unlimited winter activities. Whistler was the host for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Whistler Village offers a wide range of community services, shops, entertainment venues, restaurants, bars and hotels.
Whistler is one of the most renowned and prestigious ski resorts in the world. There are two key ski-mountains, Whistler Mountain which is popular with snowboarders and Whistler Blackcomb. The easiest and most affordable method of travel to Whistler from Vancouver is by Greyhound bus. The journey time is approximately 2½ hours and services run regularly throughout the day.
If you are going to Whistler to job hunt then we would strongly suggest you book a few night’s accommodation in advance of your arrival and have a Plan B and set yourself a time period for job hunting in Whistler. Eg. if you are unable to find work within say a week you will consider moving elsewhere to job hunt, if nothing else call SWAP as they may have listings of vacancies in other resorts.

Within Banff National Park you have 3 excellent ski resorts to choose from; Sunshine Village (which is a popular place for participants to work), Lake Louise and Mount Norquay. These resorts are now known as ‘The Big 3’.
The town of Banff is only a 2 hour drive west of Calgary and is a well known destination for world wide travellers. It has easy access to all 3 ski areas and is a friendly and up and coming town. Banff offers a great mix of shops, cafes and visitor attractions including the world-renowned Banff Hot Springs.
Lake Louise is slightly further west of Banff and claims to be one of the largest ski areas in North America, while Mount Norquay is closer to downtown Banff.

Jasper |
Lake Louise is known as the “Jewel of the Rockies” and is considered one of the most scenic places in Canada to ski. The town itself is quite small, making it a very cosy and personal resort, however the resort does not have as many facilities as some of the other resorts in Alberta.

Nakiska is nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rockies in picturesque Kananaskis Country, which is only 45 minutes from the vibrant city of Calgary. Nakiska was the home to the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics and is a fairly small and simple family friendly ski resort.
