Why your help is needed
HIV/AIDS is a widespread problem in Ghana, and volunteers have the opportunity to
get involved with grassroots initiatives aimed at educating local communities on
the risks of HIV infection.
Due to the scale and urgency of the problem, these schemes are in constant need
of help and support, particularly from volunteers. Volunteers are based in rural
areas of Ghana, where they become heavily involved in both raising awareness of
HIV/AIDS and caring for people living with the disease. The dual-approach means
that volunteers have the opportunity to assist both in preventing the spread of
HIV/AIDS and helping those who have been affected by it, making the experience not
only extremely rewarding but also hugely worthwhile.
Conducting educational seminars and producing promotional and educational material,
volunteers with a genuine interest in preventing the spread of the HIV/AIDS have
the chance to make a real contribution to the local community.
Volunteers who want to work in other areas of health care may be interested in the
Health Care Centre project
