Why your help is needed
Volunteers work in day care centres in India that have been established in order
to provide support for parents and children from underprivileged backgrounds. Due
to having only limited staff and resources, it can be extremely difficult for these
initiatives to provide the levels of support they would wish to, and the centres
are therefore enthusiastic for volunteers to assist with teaching, craftwork and
community visits to families and mothers.
The extra care and attention offered by volunteers directly benefits local children,
parents and communities, so volunteers’ presence is highly appreciated and valued
by the staff at the day care centres.
Early childhood care and education is critically important to child development,
so volunteers are encouraged to get involved as much as they can. This might include
feeding or playing with children, assisting with health checks or working to increase
attendance at the centre.
This is a very hands-on project, so it gives volunteers who want to work with children
a real chance to make an impact on the lives of children from underprivileged backgrounds.
